Nia is the therapist Westlands regulars ask for when a week of screens and Waiyaki Way traffic has settled into the neck, the mid-back, or the hips. She warms the area first, then stays on it. The pressure is strong only where you have agreed. Say lighter and she changes it immediately.
Hot stone is her other hour: basalt along the back and legs so guarded muscle gives up a little before her hands finish the map. It is still a massage, not a heat treatment you endure in silence. She checks temperature as she goes.
